I’m a freelance writer, researcher and design historian. I research the designed world—objects, buildings, spaces and images—and write copy and content that effectively contributes to readers’ knowledge, understanding and interpretation of the designed world. I write for and contribute to:

+ Indesign + Habitus + Houses + Artichoke + Urbis + Green + Powerhouse Museum + Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
+ Images Publishing + Houzz + Canva Design School + ArtEdit + Sydney Jewish Museum + Max & You + plus others +

+ design + architecture + decorative arts + craft + industrial design + photography + history + visual culture + popular culture + travel +

Who i am?

I study cultural history through the lens of design, architecture and visual culture. I have a Masters in the History of Decorative Arts and Design (Parsons School of Design), a Bachelors in Marketing (University of Otago) and more than fifteen years experience in copywriting and communications.

I am a certified Professional Historian (Associate) accredited by the Professional Historians Association (NSW & ACT) Inc.

What i do?

I research and write content for exhibitions, publications, magazines, journals, websites, presentations and communications.  I provide thorough, informative, engaging and imaginative copy, striking a balance between technical or formal information and a more popular narrative or story.

Why i do it?

Research and writing is an adventure down the rabbit hole. Research is my exploration into the somewhat unknown; writing is the problem solving I do to make sense of that exploration. The result is comprehensible, persuasive and polished work.

Where i am?

I am based in Sydney, Australia, and available for freelance work for companies and individuals in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Please contact me regarding work in other countries.
